What does tourmaline-infused ceramic do that regular ceramic doesn't?
Tourmaline is a semi-precious mineral that, when heated, generates a significantly higher volume of negative ions than plain ceramic. Negative ions break down water molecules in the hair into smaller particles, allowing them to penetrate the cuticle rather than sitting on the surface. Why does the V-520 have 8 micro-sensors?

Is the V-520 suitable for keratin or rebonding treatments?
Yes. The V-520 is specifically designed to reach and hold the sustained high temperatures (210°C–230°C) required for keratin and rebonding treatments. The heat balance technology ensures consistent temperature across the wide plates — critical for treatments where uneven heat can result in uneven protein bonding, leading to patchy or short-lived results.
Can I use the 42mm plates on short or fine hair?
Yes, but the V-520 is optimized for medium to long or thick hair. On short or fine hair, wide plates can be harder to maneuver and may apply more heat surface than needed. For short hair or precision edge work, a narrower plate straightener like the V-551 would give better control. For general straightening of medium-to-long hair, the V-520's 42mm plates are ideal.
How do I clean and store the V-520?
Always unplug and allow to cool fully before cleaning. Wipe the tourmaline-ceramic plates with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove product buildup. Never use abrasive cleaners as they can damage the tourmaline coating. Store in a dry location — do not clamp shut on a hard surface for extended periods as this can compress the floating plate mechanism over time.
